Bezalel Computer Solutions Pvt Ltd is a new digital mapping company of Nepal. Our mission is not to join the host of big-data urban mapping systems, or be the next Google Maps replacement. Our work is to craft maps with human touch, that cloud-dwelling automated systems can’t do.
Do you need a village water project mapped out for your sponsors, or to analyze for phase II? You have 20 veggie gardens across three districts and need to know which ones are producing well? Or perhaps your land is bordered by natural landmarks—a tree, a rock, a stream—and you need borders on a map, with dimensions? You’re sending a trekking expedition on a new route, and need it on a map, with every hotel checked and marked correctly? Or you just want a pretty map showing where all your relatives are from?
Perhaps we can help.
Bezalel Computer Solutions offers personal, bespoke digital mapping solutions, whether that’s creating a map, finding and checking data in the real world, or understanding maps to apply to your situation.
Creating bespoke maps
Sometimes you want a personalized map, whether it’s for reporting, analysis, showing to donors, or personal use. A ‘map-inspired image’, expressing an idea, but not showing the real locations, isn’t enough: you want your data in the right place.
Here are some ideas of maps we can make.
- Locations of project installations
- The status of each installation, located correctly on the map. Is it working? Broken? Unfinished?
- Custom trek and travel routes
- Wildlife sightings – your own, or collected from another source
- Natural features
- A diagram or map of your land and buildings
- A map showing your house and environment within your district or local area
- Local infrastructure, such as water pipes or public toilets
Collecting and verifying geospatial data
The data you need isn’t always ready and available. Maybe someone built something and it was never marked on any map. We can go to the location, check it out, and bring back the geographic data for a map or for analysis with GIS software.
Some examples:
- Natural features such as rocky outcrops or groves of trees
- Temporary local bridges
- Verifying a trekking route: is the path even there? Is it walkable?
- Locating project installations, and verifying which ones are working
- Taking geo-located photographs of particular places
- Recording and mapping village infrastructure, such as roughly-laid water pipes
- Finding the boundaries of fields
Understanding and interpreting maps
It’s not always easy to read a map and know what it means. Many maps aren’t clear on their reference points or scales, and sometimes you just don’t know how to read what you want from a map. We can help you read the map, and find the real locations of things, or mark them on another map. We can also help you understand what the geospatial data means for your particular application.
For example:
- Finding the physical location of features on maps
- Cross-referencing your map data with Google Maps or OpenStreetMap
- Working out distances and altitudes on a trekking map
- Analyzing water catchment areas from topographic maps
- Locating the boundaries of your land, ward or other area, based on a survey map
